Welcome to Bury U3A
The basic principle of the U3A is to bring together people who are retired or semi-retired with the intention of expanding their interests, enhancing their mental and physical welfare, and providing enjoyable social contact with others.
Bury U3A was set up in 2009. Any suggestions from members on the running of the group would be greatly appreciated by the committee. Please get in touch via the CONTACT page of this website, write in the Suggestions Book at a monthly meeting or contact any of the committee members.
Our monthly meeting is held at The Elizabethan Suite in the Town Hall, Bury. It takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 1.45-3.45pm. Please arrive 1.30pm so business can start at 1.45pm prompt. Refreshments are available, then we start with a talk by a visiting speaker followed by news from the various Interest Groups. There is a £1 entry charge to help defray costs of room-hire and speaker fees.
Please come along to one of our meetings at The Elizabethan Suite which is very handy for the bus/tram terminus and find out what we have going on. If you decide to become a fully paid-up member you will then be able to join the group activities.
Membership of Bury U3A is £20.
Currently, we have over 300 members and over 45 Interest Groups, some in the process of being set up, but expect that both these numbers will increase and new members will hopefully bring new expertise which they wish to share. Do contact us if you could organise a new group!
