PLEASE NOTE: All applications must be sent to the Study Day Administrator and NOT TO THE VENUE.

Car sharing for study days

If you are likely to be driving to a Study Day it would be enormously helpful if you would give a lift to another member who does not have transport. It would also help cover your costs as car sharers usually help to pay for petrol. Our SUN representative Paul has offered to keep a list of members who are willing/able to give a lift to a specific study day and to pass this information on to any member who is in need of transport.

So IF YOU ARE DRIVING TO A STUDY DAY and are willing/able to give a lift(s) would you contact Paul and advise him which Study Day you are attending giving him your email address and or telephone number so that he can pass it on to anyone who is trying to find a lift. Paul’s email address is paulbaker7@virginmedia.com and his telephone number is 01273 452620

If you require a lift please contact Paul by email or telephone so that he can advise you if any lifts are available. It will then be up to you to make contact with the driver.

Please note that Paul is only offering to provide information about members who have advised him that they are willing to offer a lift – he is not able to actually arrange lifts – the person needing the lift will need to contact the prospective driver themselves

House of Lords Chamber Debate
‘Parliament 2.0: in a digital society, is politics for politicians or is everyone a decision maker?’

F U L L

Venue: The House of Lords, London

The House of Lords opens up the chamber every year, inviting people from across the UK to take part in a debating event. This year’s debate is the latest event in a broad outreach programme that aims to raise awareness of the role and work of the Lords.

We are delighted that once again U3A members have been invited to participate, along with young people from UK Youth, in an inter-generational debate on the topic:
‘Parliament 2.0: in a digital society, is politics for politicians or is everyone a decision maker?’

In the run-up to the event, there will be eight ‘Talking Days’ across the UK where members of UK Youth and the U3A will meet each other in an exciting afternoon filled with activities. Starting off with an intergenerational discussion about the history and evolution of democracy, participants will then be introduced to the basics of debating before engaging in a mock debate. At the end of the afternoon, some participants will be selected to lead the debate in the Lords chamber on 28 November.
