Monthly meetings and Other Events
Howden & District U3A meets at 10.30am on the last Thursday monthly (no meeting in December) at The Shire Hall in Howden. The meeting commences with a guest speaker on a topic of general interest, listed below. Refreshments follow, offering an opportunity for socializing with other members and a chance to find out about interest groups and other activities.
Non-members are welcome to attend one monthly meeting to help them decide if they wish to join.
A charge of £1 for members and £3 for non-members is made to cover costs.

29 May: Why Plants Talk to Insects and Why Pumpkins Cant Fly
Doug Stewart M Hort, B Phil. Fl Hort, MILM, began his horticultural career at the age of 13 supplying vegetables to the village shop. He was Head of Horticulture at a leading college, had a phone-in radio programme and now retired, runs his own business.
26 June: Governor HMP Humber The Prison and Prisoners
Ed Cornmell, Governor HMP Humber will give us the inside information on his job the prison and prisoners.
31 July: The Bar Convent
Sister Agatha comes highly recommended and will talk to us about York's Bar Convent.
28 August: A chef at Chequers
Alan Lavender shares his experiences during the many years he spent as a chef at Chequers.
25 September: Gemstones and crystals.
Robert W Wood D.Hp talks about this fascinating subject.
30 October: AGM
The Swanland U3A Choir will entertain us after the business is complete.
27 November: All the way from Paradise.
Frank McClintock talks about birding in Portugal.

|5th (Wed)||The stroll will commence at 10.30am from the Percy Arms in Airmyn and will be around 4 miles long through the Crossings to Westfield and returning on the river banks. Optional lunch at the Percy Arms.||Strollers|
